Opris / Eilah

Opris and Eilah are two monikers of solo musician Johnathan Chriest. Opris is the ambient leaning project and Eilah is more folky and indie dream-pop project. From 4 hour ambient/improv sets, and scoring films, to multiple tours in the US and Europe, Opris has almost 15 years of experience writing, recording and performing ambient music. Hailing from a working class family in the woods of western PA, Opris makes visceral music that doesn't lose it's accessibility in the attempt to scour the depths of the human experience. His instrumentation tends to focus around synths for ambient breadth, acoustic guitars (usually finger picked) for rhythmic/melodic accompaniment, and his soft voice to guide the stories his music tells. Opris's live sets incorporate an improvisational aspect, sometimes ambient, sometimes accompanied by voice and guitar that tie each of the songs together into a single story instead of a series of disparate songs played one after the other.
